The 2012-13 Season
We are pleased to announce to 2012-13 season of the Galesburg Community Chorus. For 67 years we have been performing great works of choral literature for our dedicated audiences in our community. This year promises to continue our tradition of musical excellence. We will present four concerts, including our annual fall and spring concerts, a guest performance by the world-renowned Westminster College Choir, and a sing-along Messiah. Carmina Burana
Saturday, November 17 at 7:30 p.m.
First Christian Church, corner of North and Broad streets in Galesburg
Admission is $12 for adults; $10 for seniors, and is free for all students. Tickets available at the door.
Our first concert of the 2012-2013 season will feature Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, one of the most well-loved and exciting choral works of the 20th century, with powerful music, driving rhythms, and strong characterization of its colorful text. We will be joined by a junior high school children's choir for the performance.

Sing-Along Messiah
Saturday, December 8 at 7:30 p.m.

Our second concert of the 2012-2013 season will be a sing-a-long Messiah. Handel’s Messiah has been a staple of the holiday season for many years, and this year we offer the chance for those who love this great work to come sing it with us. It is sure to be a fun and rewarding musical evening.

The Westminster Choir

Every year the Galesburg Community Chorus brings a guest choir to Galesburg, and this year we are excited to present, jointly with Knox College, the Westminster Choir. This world-class choir has been setting the standard for choral excellence for 90 years. The group is composed of students at Westminster Choir College, in Princeton, N.J. Praised by The New York Times for its “full-bodied, incisive singing,” the Westminster Choir also forms the core of the Westminster Symphonic Choir, which has performed and recorded with the leading orchestras of our time, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the London Philharmonia.

Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass

This exciting performance will feature a historic combination of three choral groups, including the Galesburg Community Chorus, the Knox College Choir, and the Monmouth College Chorale, under the direction of guest conductor Dr. Laura Lane. The choirs will perform Franz Joseph Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass one of the greatest choral-orchestral works of the repertoire, known for its vitality, beautiful melodies, and moments of great drama.
